Got a new chicken the other day and called her Henry, Charlie and Henrietta.

I settled for Henrietta. But today I went down and patted her and fed her and stuff. Then they were locked away I heard her and Jerry (Juressic, the other new one) were being picked on by Freddo (my big chicken) and Lucy (my sister's canabalistic goose-duck)
So I went down. I peered into the chicken house through the wire and Henry (I am calling her that as an abreviation as Henrietta) and she tried to fly over to me.
So i went in and patted her and stuff, she's so gorgeous.

And...I think I can speak chicken...this is weird
My chicken 'bawked' and i 'bawked; back and so on. But when I stopped or said human words she was silent! odd...
Anyway, here is a small dictionary of chicken sounds I have made...could be wrong but I think it's semi-accurate.

Bawk Baaawk Buck buck-buck-buck-buck- Reassuring/ it is safe
Bak-baaak-bak (higher pitched)- curious, is it safe?
Buk buk buk (rapid sound when eating)- food
BUK BACKAOR! (really loud)- I just laid an egg
Buck!- (Short, high pitched, accompanied by sharp head movement)- Sometimes it means 'i just laid an egg', displeasure, sought of a throat clearer but in clucking form.
BUK-BUK-BUK-BUK (really fast, often when nervouse or running away from something)- I am scared, alarm, there is danger.

So yes, does anyone else have chickens?
